Sanskrit Typing Online संस्कृतम्

Type Sanskrit in the Devanagari script for free, right in your browser. Type words the way they sound in English letters (saMskRtam becomes संस्कृतम्), or use the government-standard InScript layout. There is nothing to install, and your text never leaves your device.

How to type in Sanskrit

  1. The editor above is already set to Sanskrit. Click in it and start typing.
  2. Phonetic: spell each word as it sounds. The whole word is redrawn as you type, so saMskRtam turns into संस्कृतम् letter by letter.
  3. InScript: if you learned the standard Indian keyboard, switch to InScript and type Devanagari letters directly.
  4. Press F9 to switch between Sanskrit and English without leaving the editor.
  5. Copy the text, or save it as Word (.docx), plain text or a web page.
